09. Choose your hard
00:01:01 Malin Pousette: Welcome back to Tiny Letters. I'm really glad you're here. Today I want to talk about something I've heard a lot. Maybe you heard it too. That phrase choose your hard. And I get it, I do. But the way I hear it now, I like to soften it a little. Because yes, life will bring challenge. Discomfort. Resistance. Hard. But not all hard is created equal. Working out can be hard. But not moving your body and feeling disconnected, that's also hard. Having the tough conversation is hard, but staying silent and carrying the weight of resentment is also hard. Starting something new is hard, but so is staying stuck in something that doesn't feel aligned anymore. Healing is hard, so is pretending you're fine. The truth is, we're always choosing something, even when we think we're not. So the invitation I want to offer is this. If it's going to be hard either way, can you choose the one that brings you closer to yourself? This isn't about hustle or pushing through. It's about noticing. It's about tuning in and asking which hard feels like it's leading me somewhere I actually want to go? And which hard brings me back home to my heart? Which hard feels honest? Because sometimes the path of growth isn't loud or forceful. Sometimes it's soft, gentle, and quiet, but still brave. When I faced these choices in my own life, When I felt the torn between comfort and truth, I've had to come back to my breath. I ask my body, what's the deeper yes here? What's the aligned discomfort I'm being invited into? Because choosing your hard doesn't mean choosing pain for the sake of it. It means choosing growth. Choosing freedom. Choosing self-respect. Or choosing love.

But if you feel that this is enough for today, you release your breath, you come back to a normal breath pattern. if you're standing at the crossroad right now, if life asking you to choose, don't rush. Just breathe and ask yourself, Which hard is aligned with my growth? Which hard feels like a quiet yes in my heart? And know that it's okay to move slowly. To choose gently. To trust your own timing.
